This cutting edge program combines top-quality business administration curriculum with music classes geared towards entrepreneurship and business tools for the 21st century musician. Built upon the foundation of the Music Business & Entrepreneurship program, ranked by Billboard as a Top Music Business School for five years in a row, this MBA features curriculum on management, marketing, finance, media, and more for direct application to the music industry.
The MBA in Music Business welcomes students from all musical backgrounds including classical, jazz, and commercial music.
Featured Faculty
Jessica Muñiz-Collado is a music career consultant, composer/producer, percussionist, and an Assistant Professor of Music Business at the University of North Texas. She is also the Founder/Owner of NIZCO MUSIC – a music career consulting service that helps musicians compose their careers to their own B.E.A.T. (Business, Education, Artist Development, Technology).
As a firm advocate for preparing the next generation of musicians entering the music industry, Jessica serves on The Recording Academy’s education committee (TX Chapter) and is a Recording Academy voting member. She also serves as an Educator Ambassador for The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC), serves on the education committee for the Music Business Association, and is Chair of the Music Industry Council for the College Music Society.
As a composer/producer, she has created music for numerous production companies and music libraries including MundoFOX, Univision, IMAX, and Universal Production Music to name a few. She is also a published and commissioned composer with both national and international performances of her work. Jessica has been featured in Music Connection magazine, Digital Drummer magazine, Miami Art Zine, and the Percussive Arts Society's Percussive Notes magazine. Rajesh Fotedar is an intellectual property attorney with nearly 20 years of experience.
In his entertainment practice, he advises clients regarding music licensing, TV/film production, copyright disputes, publishing agreements, and opera collaboration agreements.
In his patent law practice, he has helped clients protect software innovation in social networks, surgical augmented reality, gaming, artificial intelligence, computational creativity, and virtual conferencing. He also manages trademark portfolios involving trademark applications and registrations in over 30 countries, including Kenya, Singapore, Turkey, Costa Rica, and The Bahamas – to name a few. Rajesh has represented clients at the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board, the Copyright Office Review Board and the Copyright Office Claims Board, in patent reexaminations and web domain dispute arbitrations.
He is near completion of an M.A. in Music Industry from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. He holds a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a B.S. in Computer Science from Ohio State University. Rajesh is a Registered U.S. Patent Attorney and is licensed to practice law in Arizona, California and Massachusetts.
